Chaos, Books, and Kilts: Preparing for the North Texas Irish Festival
If you love Celtic music, Highland culture, and Irish heritage, the North Texas Irish Festival in Dallas is one of the biggest Celtic festivals in the United States. With more than 50,000 attendees every year, it fills Fair Park with music, dancing, food, and artisans celebrating Celtic traditions. This year I’ll be there too—selling my Scottish witch novels and meeting readers.

Behind-the-Scenes
Since the fair is so big, vendors had to apply for a spot last year! Once accepted, I needed to order books. A lot of books. So. Many. Books.

My house looks like a warehouse right now, lol.
The entire down stairs is filled with boxes of books, tartan linens, a massive banner I created to hang at the back of my tent, bookmarks and checklists everywhere to remember what to pack. My sister-in-law, Cindy, is here to visit, and I’m like, “sorry my house is chaos.” Also adding to the chaos, the bookshelves for my office were partially installed this week, and my son literally grew out of his bed, so we had to get him new one and the old one is in the hall. Did I mention that my husband, son and I all caught the flu?
Which Bag Looks Better?
On a different note, thanks to everyone who voted on my Instagram/Facebook/TikTok pages on which bag you thought looked better…
The overwhelming winner (literally 100% of the votes) was the black bag. People said it looks more high end/luxurious, so that is the official bag for the festivals. Yay!
Oh, and one more thing…
March Giveaway
Every month I do a giveaway on my Wise Ones Newsletter. It’s super easy to enter. You just sign up for my newsletter at LisaTraugott.com and when the email comes out mid-month, just hit reply and type giveaway.
Back by popular demand, this month’s giveaway is a Kitchen Witch by Lauren with The Threaded Crone. Lauren really outdid herself – she made a custom designed witch to look like Fiona, the wise woman in my books To Rescue a Witch and To Condemn a Witch. She gave her a MacLeod tartan (green, black, yellow stripe), brown hair and amber eyes. And her gown is black leather. How cool is that? You can read an interview with her here: The Threaded Crone – Kitchen Witch.
The North Texas Irish Festival is one of the highlights of the Celtic calendar in Texas, and I’m thrilled to be part of it this year. If you’re attending the festival in Dallas this weekend, stop by Table 38 in the Automobile Building East to say hello and browse my books inspired by Scottish folklore and witch trials.
Later, Wise Ones!
Lisa 😉
