Book Signing Events and Workshops
It’s been an exciting three months since my first novel, “To Rescue a Witch” launched. Here are some updates and future book signing events and workshops.
Next Generation Indie Book Awards
The biggest news is that my book became a fiction finalist for the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. Whoo hoo!
This has opened some doors, including an invitation to the book signing event as well as a podcast interview. As a self-published author, I need all the help I can get to get my story out to readers.
Book Signing at ALA Convention
Are you in the San Diego area? If so, I’d love to meet you at the San Diego Convention Center on Sunday, June 30. As part of the American Library Association convention, I’ll be in the author book signing area (Exhibit Hall – Booth 2210) from 1 – 3 pm with other Next Generation Indie Book Award recipients.
Other Speaking Events
Spells, Secrets & History – The World of “To Rescue a Witch”
Looking for a spellbinding Halloween event? Join me on the evening of October 3 at the Pflugerville Library as we explore witch trials, folklore and the mystical from the Scottish Highlands to Virginia Colony.
Set in 1739, To Rescue a Witch is about an abused girl accused of witchcraft who must be rescued by a man married to an actual witch. Through fun interactive games we will blend historical insights and literary exploration – perfect for those who love a good spooky tale mixed with real history.
In this 40-minute session, you will discover:
- A brief history of witches, wizards and wise women
- Witchcraft and The Law โ Would YOU be convicted?
- The Inspiration Behind โTo Rescue a Witchโ including travels to the Scottish Highlands, London and Williamsburg, Virginia
It’s free ๐ and I’ll be doing a reading from my book as well.
Looking for An Author for Your Book Club?
Do you have a book club that likes historical fiction and/or fantasy books? I’d love to Zoom into your book club (for free) to talk about my book, the history of witchcraft, Celtic folklore and behind-the-scenes looks at writing a novel. Email Lisa@LisaTraugott.com to discuss.
Audible in the works
Quite a few people reached out to me wondering if there is an Audible version of “To Rescue a Witch”. Short answer: Not yet, but I’m working on it. If you’ve read the book, you might remember that every character has an accent (Southern, English, Scottish, French…). And if you know me, you know that I’m from New Jersey. Considering I’ll be reading all the female characters (Annaliese, Fiona, Lady Margaret, etc.) it’s going to take me a wee bit of time to learn the accents first. Don’t worry – I plan to hire an actor to read all the male characters (MacLeod, Rob Birch, Viscount Percy, etc.) As this adventure progresses, I’ll keep you posted.
Next Book…Coming in 2025!
Oooh. This one’s exciting. My next book, “To Reclaim a Witch” is a prequel with Annaliese’s mother, Eleanor, as the story’s main protagonist. In this story we not only have witches, but ghosts too, and we do a deep dive into some of your favorite characters to explore why they do what they do.
To borrow a film title, did you ever notice that everything everywhere happens all at once? I found out the same day my daughter graduated high school, so it was a pretty exciting day all around.ย Then I discovered the ALA convention was same the week my second book, “To Reclaim a Witch” is due to my editor. Gulp. This double deadline has given me a new appreciation for the power of caffeine.
I’m almost done with the first draft manuscript. As it works its way through editing and the release date, I’ll keep you posted with lots of sneak peaks.
Thanks, Everyone!
Thank you so much for being a supportive reader! I love reading all the reviews you’ve posted on Amazon and Goodreads and appreciate your feedback.
Sending you good witchy vibes,
